1 - The House of Ulysses Julian Rios 2003 An attempt to teach the structure and themes of James Joyce Ulysses in novel form. In the end it neither serves the novice or the expert.
2 - The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven Sherman Alexie 1993 Worth all the praise it gets. It's a window into the American Indian mindset.
3 - Stride: The Music of Fats Waller Paul S. Machlin 1985 Intro to Fats Waller to me. Died in 1943 at 39 years old.
4 - The Sense of an Ending Julian Barnes 2011 Novel. Well written with some real reveals at the end.
5 - Will You Please Be Quiet, Please? Raymond Carver 1976 Well thought of writer. Short Stories. I did not like.
6 - History, Mystery and Lore of Rhode Island Kelly S. Pezza 2006 Self published book. Unsatisfying. Local stories/murders.
7 - The Hidden Beauty of the Microscopic World James Weiss 2021 What microbes can tell us about our existence and place in the universe.
8 - England Made Me Graham Greene 1953 Novel. Not my favorite GG.
9 - Sporting Moustaches Aug Stone 2024 Book sent for review to BGN.
10 - The Secret History Donna Tart 1992 Popular mystery. Liked parts of it. 500 pages, 200 too long for me.

11 - The Barefoot Mailman   Theodore Pratt 1943   Postal Route from Palm Beach to Miami. 66 mile/3 day walk on beach. Folksy tale. Set in 1880.
12 - Every Third Thought   John Barth  2011   Post-modernist novel. Loved it.
13 - The Odyssey   Homer 600 BC   Translated by Samuel Butler.
14 - We Are Here and It Is Now   Dave Morrison 2004   Poetry by ex-Boston rocker.
15 - The Shining   Stephen King 1977  Good horror tale.
16 - Monk's Hood   Ellis Peters  1980   Mystery with Cadfael the medieval monk.
17 - The Surgeon   Tess Gerritsen 2001   Mystery. Source of the Rizzoli & Ives TV show.
18 - Case Histories   Kate Atkinson  2005   A well regarded mystery book. I did not like.
19 - Killing Mister Watson   Peter Matthiessen 1990   Story of a real killing in 1890s Florida Everglades.

28 - Pencil   Carol Beggy  2024   Yes, all about pencils. My fave the Blackwing 602.
29 - Marked Man   Archer Mayor  2021  Mystery with Brattleboro, VT backdrop.
30 - On Bullshit   Harry G. Frankfurt 2005   Short but serious take on bullshit by renowned Princeton philosopher.

31 - The Man in My Basement   Walter Mosley 2005  Novel - just so so.
32 - Ethics Without God   Kai Nielsen  1973   The arguments of religious vs secular morality. Excellent.
33 - Beasts of No Nation   Uzodinma Iweala  2005   Novel dealing with the use of children in the war in Nigeria.

43 - Lance Hidy's Posters Essay by Alan Fern 1983   Poster and Graphic artist from New England. Excellent work.
44 - A Penny Saved Is Impossible   Ogden Nash 1981   Witty and clever poems.
45 - Little Boy   Lawrence Ferlinghetti 2019   Unconventional autobiography. Full of the beatnik bliss.
46 - St. Peter's Fair  Ellis Peters  1981   Mystery with Cadfael the medieval monk.
47 - Rebel   Nick Nolte  2018   Autobiography of actor. Audiobook.
48 - Rising From the Plains   John McPhee 1986   Half geology of the Western US and half frontier history and lore.
49 - Maigret and the Wine Merchant   Georges Simenon 1970   Mystery - not very compelling.
50 - The Old Fool and the Corruption of Myth   Adolf Guggenbuhl-Craig 1991  Shows the way myths work in life. A Jungian view. Very good.

51 - The Swamp   Michael Grunwald 2006   Story of the Everglades. Politics, environment, rapacious businessmen and American history all revealed. Very compelling and eye opening.
52 - New Directions: 100 Years of Joyce's Dubliners   Various  2005   Excellent short stories by Irish writers.
53 - An Odyssey   Daniel Mendelsohn 2017   Criticism of the Odyssey by teacher parallels his relationship with his father.
54 - Samuel Coleridge: Selected Poems  York Notes Advanced 2000  Mostly criticism.
55 - The Portrait   Iain Pears 2005  Mystery. Didn't like. Obvious. .
56 - The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail   J. Lawrence/R.E. Lee 1971   Play. Well written. Captures the spirit, philosophy and life of Thoreau.
57 - Decoding Schopenhauer's Metaphysics   Bernardo Kastrup 2020  At one point it links 200 year old philosophy with Quantum physics via the entanglement issue.
58 - Rockin' My Life Away   Jimmy Guterman  1991   Very good bio of Jerry Lee Lewis focusing on the music.
59 - What is Life   Paul Nurse 2020   Nobel Prise winner talks about he chemistry/biology of life.
60 - The Age of Shakespeare   Frank Kermode 2003  Audiobook. The plays and the Elizabethan backdrop in which they existed.

62 - Ebb and Flow   Dickenson & Whitman 1987  Audiobook. 39 Dickenson poems and 14 Whitman.
